Here you can post pics and plans for driving rigs.
Here's what I've been using for the past two years,
And now with the Thurstmaster T500RS,
Finally my wheelstand pro arrrived yesterday. It took less than 30 minutes to mount the G27 and the fun could begin. This thing is rock solid and I can absolutely recommend it for everyone who has no room (or wife's permission) for a real cockpit.
Setting it up or putting it away is less than a minute.
I spare posting a picture as their webside has enough of them; there is also a nice review on gtplanet.
And I swear I'm at least 0.001 seconds faster per lap now.
not my rig but I found this today on one of the other sites I peruse.
Eyefinity setup for sim racing.
This is my almost complete rig. Only missing the flat screen.
Missing the PS3 too still.
Nice, I don't think I've seen plastic pipe and metal combined before this.
Nice rig oldboy, looks comfy and stable. Hope you're able to get a PS3 in the next 4 weeks or so, so you can enjoy GT5 with us.
Here is my set up minus the G27.
nice dude, to bad to see that you hate the Bruins so much!!! ;D
Well, I started with a DFP mounted to my kids' Whinny The Pooh table. Which rested on my legs as I sat on the couch.
Then I graduated to a Wheel Station Pro.
After I got tired of that moving around as I thrashed on my wheel, I moved up to a Tony Stewart Edition PlaySeat. Which is a really good product if you need to put it away somewhere.
We now have a house and I have my "man cave". I no longer have any concern whether or not Wifey Pooh wants to see my rig . Plus, I wanted certain features that PlaySeat just can't do. Such as adjustable angle in the pedal tray. There were many times when the front of my ankle was in severe pain because of the fixed angle of the plate.
So, after months of mild pondering, Boston posted pix of his Obutto on FaceBook. As a result of nonevassive interrogation, I went full bore into "I GOTTA GET ONE" mode!
I'm very happy with my Obutto and I'm glad I got it when I did. It's my understanding there is a waiting list now!
Butterball actually thinks it's his!
And so does Domino
The Obutto has a larger footprint than the PlaySeat. I had to make a new platform so I can move it around easier. 5' x 2' board, 8 rubber castors (4 lock), U-Bolts are used to hold the rig in place.
This is my racing area. Sorry about the bad lighting blur. I wanted to be able to show the image on the tv and my rig.
Now, if Wifey Pooh gets me a Buttkicker for my birthday and a Fanatec GT3 RSv2 (or whatever may be coming that we don't know about yet) for Christmas, my rig will be "complete"
Earlier this week Peyepete came up with the near-complete custom rig for final measurements and to pick up the seat I had acquired. And now, after final tweaking, it's done ...
... and installed.
I like how your shifter is lower than the wheel and also closer to the seat. That's how it is in most cars. The position of the shifter is the only thing I don't like about my wheel stand pro and I already installed the plate for the shifter upside down.
How much did this thing cost if I may ask?
I'm not sure I can say. :sCo_chinscratch:
Needless to say, I thought it a good value when Peyepete first offered to make one for me a few months ago. You would have to ask him what #4 in the series would cost. :sHa_thumb2:
That's all right; I can't buy it anyway. I just don't see how I could lock it away in the closet. :sHa_hehe:
But I like it a lot anyway. :sSig_goodjob:
LOL On end would work, especially if your seat is from a 2-door car and folds.
And the Updated G27 version. New style shifter mount currently being designed and built.
New Shifter Mount for G27 Shifter Module. (Yes I know DFGT wheel is still mounted to Rig)
Final finish will be Matte Black Powdercoat. I was in a rush to use my Racing Station, so it has "Raw Finish"
Here's a few pic's of mine..
It's a Hyperdrive unit.
With an accessory seat from an Auto Parts Wholesaler (As opposed to the seats available from Hyperdrive themselves)
Never mind the old 'GT Force' wheel.. It's only there while the whole rig is doing some GT5 promo duties in a local game store a friend owns.
(As a result I got 50% off the RRP of a Logitech G27)
Still got the hard plastic bucket (tub) with padded vinyl cover to throw back on if i get bored with the reclining bucket (Yeah, right)
Or I just may build a 2nd rig to accommodate the 'tub' for those 'Head2Head' battles with my lil' Brother.
I haven't got a racing cockpit yet, but trying to get the one i want to Alaska is pain in the butt. The ones that talked me in to the racing cockpit was Dave and boston. The Obutto will be the racing cockpit i get as soon as they come up with a shipping charge to Alaska. Right now i'm just using a wooden tv tray, which just about turns corners when i do. Will post pictures when i get the Obutto racing cockpit!
Here is what I use.
