By the players, for the players

Project CARS (Community Assisted Racing Simulator) is the most authentic, beautiful, intense, and technically-advanced racing game on the planet. Crowd-funded by a passionate community that has been involved in the development process from day one to create their ultimate racing dream.

Including the largest track roster of any recent racing game, a huge variety of motor sports, a free-form and authentic career mode, world-class graphics & handling, dynamic time-of-day & weather, and a suite of community features and connectivity, Project CARS leaves the competition behind in the dust.

During development, the game was partly funded by its community members. Each member could purchase a tool pack to invest in the game, which cost $950. After investing, he or she was able to influence the project through its community portal and also received a share of the game's profits after the game was released.

Very interesting indeed, only thing to nit pick in videos I've seen is the steering wheels with the ghosts drivers seen in most hard core PC sims. I'm awhere of the hands vs no hands debate and I'm pro-hands in interior views like GT5. Envy the track list.

The game is currently in a Pre-Alpha build.

In the final build of the game, driver hands will be visible on the steering wheel. :)

Car and track list is improving all the time, too! :)

Expect a major shift in the balance of racing simulators come mid-2013...

It was 60 usd after the conversion from euro. you get a free copy of the game when its released, a driver named after you and special access to cars. im downloading it now as i type this and will let you know what i think of it in the next week or so. the download is about 3.4 gigs and updates automatically.

i just signed up! I'm thinking about investing the 1000 bucks. Seems like the gateway to the evolution of the racing sim. I am unclear weather or not this level of membership gets a percentage of profits tho...

I think for the 1000 euro you would want to have a business to take advantage of the livery and in game billboard. I would think that would bring some sort of revenue in advertising and this is in place of being a percentage holder in profits.

Comparison around Nurburgring Nordschleife in a Zonda R. Project CARS vs. GT5 vs. real-life.

I'm surprised CARS doesn't rival GT5 more. However, it's still in its test stages.

I guess they want to be as accurate as possible; good spot, though! It would make me chuckle if a race car is sponsored by Forza and is chosen to be featured in GT6! :)

    Re: Project CARS

Me, too! :) The game is expected to come out very late into this current console cycle - November 2013. We may even have the next-gen consoles by then. And that November 2013 date is more of a guesstimate by the studio rather than a concrete release date. I hope the release of this game isn't overshadowed by GT6 and the PS4, which are both expected to be released around the same time as CARS.
