I searched, but couldnt find anything other then a download site from a guy w/ only a couple posts.

What do you guys use to keep track of your tunes for all the different cars and the tunes for a specific track. Do you just use a notebook, or is there something on the PC I can use. Ive thought about making it in excel, but I'm sure others on here have come w/ an easy way to do this, so you can search for specific tune/ track combos you have saved. Thanks guys.

I use a notebook (one page per car), possibly many use excel.

I'm using the openoffice version of excel and it works just fine for me. It has all the functionality I need: filter, sort and search.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Just wanted to see if anyone had a better way to do it. In open off, you just use one spreadsheet w/ everything on it, or do you have different ones for different cars or tracks? I would imagine having one for each track would work better then having one huge one, but idk. Thanks

For me, I don't see much benefit to sorting tunes by track as a tune that makes a car drive well works at at least most tracks. When I get somewhere in a car I've used previously I've got the most recent tune already on the car so I start there, if it takes some adjustments for the new track (or I try a posted/given tune) that's fine but it's still the same car.
You may well want track-specific notes if you don't remember well. Things like Deep Forest being oversteery (and how you made that better) are good to know no matter how you remember.

Yeah i meant to type car, my bad. I think that would work quite nicely, now for the daunting task of starting to tune cars again. This shouldnt take but a couple months:sSc_eek:

    Ah.

I just tune cars I'm going to race as that's where the tuning is useful. Not much point tuning heavily for offline stuff as the AI isn't good enough to give much challenge unless you use a Hard Mode car in some race.

I have one sheet and the two lead columns are track and car followed by the author of the tune (almost always clacksman :sHa_hehe: ), the author's best lap time, my best lap time and then the different settings.
So far I don't have too many tunes stored because as clacksman said I also take the tune of a car from one track to the next and if no significant changes were made I don't make a new entry in the spreadsheet.
But even with hundreds of tunes I wouldn't have more than one sheet. Filter, sort and search take care of volume and make it manageable.

True, and most of our race series here are the same car for at least a month. idk what I was thinking w/ the couple months statement. I think lack of sleep is starting to show. Thanks for your tuning guides though they helped me get my mm-r into the front of the pack last night, and 0.3 from first.

I just keep track in my head. I have a base as a starting point and go from there.

I can give you a copy of my Spreadsheet. If I can Figure out how to post it on here. It's small but has hyperlinks to track/tune specific points. Eventually It will be sortable to find the fastest cars for each track.

I'm not sure if it's because it's a .xlsx file type or I use a free version of excel. If someone knows why I can't upload please pipe in.

It might be becuase of free version, or forum upload doesnt support that format, idk really. I got one started, but I would like to see how yours is set up, if you want to email it to me that would be great. gdemoss83@gmail.com just put gt5 tune in subject or something like that.

    Thanks man, I appreciate it.

Thats what I was going for with mine, but I never even thought to make 2 pages and use the hyperlinks. Good stuff though, thanks man. Looks alot cleaner and easier to navigate w/ 2 pages.

    It's not!?:sHa_hehe:

Yeah, I've got a couple small notebooks that I'm just beginning to use. I'll likely use them while on the PS3, then transfer them into Excel to keep a backup copy or something.

I had a notebook for gt4. I kinda blended what I had started w/ what yngndum gave me, and now it is very easy to navigate and read. I just made some alterations to what he had like locking the first column on the car list, and making every entry uniform. I always have my laptop on when Im home anyways so it is more convenient then pen and paper for now. If anyone wants a copy to try it, I'll be more then happy to share.

I'd like to see what you're working with, Jato. Could you send it to me? Thanks!
