In The News.....

TPRA? “What’s that all about?” you might ask.  TPRA is dedicated to the development and promotion of organized, online racing events on a regularly scheduled basis.  Currently, we are scheduling events three nights a week at the professional physics level.  Participation is open to any driver who wishes to compete in a fair and sportsman-like manner.  Although many consider themselves “members”, there is no requirement to become affiliated with TPRA, and there are no costs, or dues.  Anyone may participate as often, or as little as they choose.

That’s from the official welcome at the Tuner’s Pit web site and serves as a mission statement. What it’s really all about is a group of online racers coming together on a regular basis to race in some of the most competitive, and the most fun, events that you could imagine.  To enter a race, all a person needs to do is read and agree to the “TPRA Online Racing Code of Conduct” (found elsewhere on this site) and submit a qualifying time, as well as a ghost replay of their qualifying lap.  A Drivers Meeting is held before each race at the TPRA Clubhouse on HOME prior to each race.  Just as in real-life racing events, attendance is mandatory there, as well.

TPRA organizers use the submitted qualifying times to sort drivers into divisions. Within each division, drivers are assigned a Performance Points adjustment that serves to both place them in the proper spot on the starting grid, as well as to handicap the field by placing the faster drivers up front with a lower PP setting.  Not-so-fast drivers are sorted toward the back of the field, but run closer to full PP level. It all works wonderfully well. Drivers accumulate points based on their finishing position within each race and monthly totals are updated regularly for each night of racing and Overall Points Leader, a much coveted title awarded at the end of every month.

What it’s really all about is you’ll find the best camaraderie and the best racing possible within the confines of the current version of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue.  Some of the fastest drivers on the North American continent participate in our events, and nothing beats racing against the best.

If you’re new to online racing, we encourage you to come out and participate.  Many new drivers are concerned that their skill level might leave them at a disadvantage.  No worries mate.  You’ll be matched up with other drivers with comparable speed and may find yourself in heated battles on a regular basis.  At the very least, you’ll gain valuable insight and be able to hone your skills by racing with other drivers that are interested in clean, fair competition. If you’re already a regular, thank you and we look forward to seeing you out there.  “Good racing.”
